SEO copywriting news

SEO isn't a destination. It's a journey. Google and co update their search algorithms regularly. Best practice changes as the web gets bigger and more complicated. And new internet technologies have an effect too. Here's a collection of useful SEO copywriting news and related stuff to help keep you on your toes and your site in top SEO condition!

  • 'Likeonomics' is the next big thing in marketing. And it's a goodie. Make your business look and feel as likeable, trustworthy and honest as you can and you'll be onto a winner. See my blog for details.
  • Research by small business insurer Hiscox reveals most small business owners don't think social media marketing is 'a must'. I agree. See my copywriitng blog for a collection of social media posts that look at the real story behind all the hype
  • A logical, 'flat' on-site internal link structure provides an enjoyable visitor experience and helps push sales conversion. If your site's internal links are too deep and complicated, back out fast and think again about a simpler, clearer, flatter stucture.
  • Can a site redesign affect your Google rankings? Matt Cutts says 'yes'... and it's a quality content issue again
  • Google loves quality content. They've released a list of questions to ask yourself before you upload new stuff. It'll also help you check your existing website content. See today's post on my blog for details.
  • According to a recent Hitwise report Google has a 92% percent search share in the UK - still the best place to focus your SEO efforts.
  • Did you know you can advertise your products free on Bing Shopping? Find out more at Bing.com.
  • StatsCounter has announced that Google Chrome, the search giant's own internet browser, has an impressive 20.7% share of browser usage. Back in 2009 it had just 2.8%. I use it. It's great. Pardon my French, but it's faster than s**t off a shovel. Why do you need to know about it? If your site doesn't display properly in Chrome yet, make sure it does because it's fast becoming one of the movers and shakers.
  • Top quality content is more important than ever, as evidenced by Google's 2011 'Panda' algorithm update. Some SEO experts feel even a tiny amount of poor content or duplicated content can have a detrimental effect on the way search engines rank and rate a website, others are less certain. It's much better safe than sorry - so make your site content as good as it can be.
